Step seven: pregnancy test

Two weeks after the transfer, you return to the IVF clinic for a pregnancy test. This test measures the hCG level in the blood. If it is positive, the IVF clinic will schedule you for a later ultrasound scan to confirm a foetal heartbeat.

If you become pregnant, you will be referred to an obstetrician for the duration of your pregnancy.
