Emotional aspects of IVF
Most people feel emotionally vulnerable during an IVF cycle. That's why
emotional support is so beneficial. Women who choose to keep their IVF cycle a
secret from everyone often feel very isolated and alone during this critical
time. But letting others know what you're going through also opens you up to judgment
or criticism from people who don't understand.
One way to protect yourself and get the support you need is to get involved
with a support group. You may find a local infertility support group in your
area, or you might want to get involved with an online support group (see Resources). These groups can also be a wonderful
source of information and support. Therapists who specialise in infertility
issues are also very helpful in dealing with the emotional issues of IVF.
