WHAT ABOUT THE INJECTIONS
What about the injections?!
Are you scared of needles? Are you wondering if the injections will be painful? Or
if you or your partner be able to give you an injection?
Although it may sound somewhat intimidating, giving yourself (or receiving)
an injection isn't as scary as it seems. Someone on the IVF team will teach you and your partner how to give the daily injections.
This gives you flexibility and control over your treatment. It also means you
won't have to go to the doctor's office for injections every day. Most partners find
it difficult to give the first injections, but it does become easier with practice. It
is also a way to involve your partner in the process.
Tips for administering injections:
- Relax, take a deep breath, and quickly slide the needle into the skin
- Choose a different injection site each day
- Don't spend too much time thinking about it before you do it
- Always follow your doctor's directions about when and how to give the
injections
- If you're really afraid, it may help to visualise the reason you're going
through this IVF cycle
