TESTS AND PROCEDURES
Tests and procedures
Semen analysis
A semen analysis might be scheduled
for a male partner if one has not yet been done. This is an important part of
the IVF workup because sperm defects are a cause or a contributing cause in many
cases of infertility.
A semen analysis determines the sperm
count, motility (movement), and
morphology (shape). These are all
factors that affect the sperm's ability to fertilise an egg.
If sperm defects are found, more specialised testing may be done.
Other tests and procedures
Depending on your history and diagnosis, other tests and procedures may also
be scheduled, including post-coital test,
hysterosalpinogram, hysteroscopy,
laparoscopy, and/or an endometrial biopsy.
